SOLGAR CoQ-10 (Coenzyme Q-10) 30mg contains KanekaQ10®, a patented form of CoQ10 that has been fermented with yeast and is bioidentical to the CoQ10 produced by the body. CoQ10 exists in two chemical forms – oxidized (ubiquinone) and reduced (ubiquinol). Once oxidized, CoQ10 (ubiquinone) is used by the body, where it is converted to ubiquinol. Reduced CoQ10 (ubiquinol) behaves in the same way, converting to ubiquinone when it performs its function in the body. Over time, our bodies produce less and less CoQ-10. This vitamin-like substance is found in many foods, but organic meats such as heart, liver, and kidney contain particularly high amounts. Other sources include beef, soybean oil, sardines, mackerel, and peanuts.
