Prunes, besides the pleasant and sweet taste they offer us, have some properties that make them very important for our health. They offer vitamins and minerals that are vital for our health and metabolism. They are still one of the most effective ways to treat constipation.

Prunes are a rich source of antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin A (plays an important role in vision and skin health) and vitamin C (essential vitamin for tissue repair and collagen production). In addition to vitamins, prunes also contain significant amounts of metal and trace elements: iron, copper, selenium and significant amounts of potassium.

Finally, prunes are fruits with a low glycemic index, which means that after eating them, blood sugar (glucose) levels do not rise sharply. As a consequence, they help to bring about the feeling of saturation and maintain it for a longer period of time.
